The Cutera CoolGlide is a state of the art laser hair removal system on the market for all skin types and tones, from light to dark patients. It is extremely effective, safe and permanent results.

Preparing for Laser Hair Removal 

• • • Do not pluck or wax the hairs for at least 4 weeks before treatment. The laser targets the hairs follicles, which can be temporarily removed by waxing or plucking.  
    • It would be best to avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks before and after treatment. Sun exposure makes laser hair removal less effective and can create post-treatment complications.  
    • The night before the procedure, we recommend shaving the hair on the areas that will be treated to reduce the chance of irritation. 

What to expect during the treatment?  

• • • We use the Cutera® CoolGlide™ Laser or the Prowave Laser and will make adjustments according to the colour, thickness, and location of hair, as well as your skin tone.  
    • Laser goggles are worn during the procedure. To protect your skin’s outer layers, a cold ultrasound gel will be applied, and a special cooling device is used to numb the skin. 
    • The laser handpiece glides over to the treatment area of about 3x3 inches as a test spot. 
    • After about 10 minutes, the area is assessed to make sure the best settings were used and checked for any reactions. (This test spot is sometimes done a couple of days before and sometimes on the day of treatment).  
    • If the operator gets positive reactions, the rest of the procedure is completed. 

What to expect after your treatment?  

You may schedule your next treatment four to six weeks later. 

• • • Immediately after treatment, a cooling aloe vera gel is applied, as well as medical-grade sunscreen for the face and any treated areas that will be exposed to the sun. The skin may appear slightly red for a very short time, but this usually goes away quickly. 
    • For a day or two afterward, the treated area of your skin may look and feel like it’s sunburned. You may have some redness or swelling. Cool compresses and aloe vera gel may help. 
    • Over the next month, your treated hair will fall out. Wear sunscreen for the following month to help prevent temporary changes in the colour of the treated skin.

Disclaimer: Laser hair removal does not work on white, blonde or grey hairs. Darker blonde hairs may have mixed results. While no laser can guarantee 100% hair-free skin, this laser will remove approximately 75%–90% of hair within 6–8 treatments. The remaining hairs that come in are very light and may need to be shaved every 4 to 6 months.
